Sir Alex Ferguson is planning a stunning coup as he looks to make an offer for Barcelona’s young defensive midfielder Sergio Busquets who is in the middle of a contractual dispute with the Catalan club. The Spanish international is demanding a huge pay hike but the La Liga club are not willing to play ball and Manchester United are ready to make a huge offer to persuade the 22 year old to move to Old Trafford.
Sergio Busquets is considered one of the hottest prospects in European football and has been a regular at the Nou Camp for the past two years and was played an important role in helping Spain win the World Cup last summer but El Mundo Deportivo reports his demands to receive a wage akin to his understudy Javier Mascherano have been turned down leaving the youngster furious.
Ferguson is in need of tough tackling defensive midfielder, not least because Owen Hargreaves is a constant injury concern, and the Scot is hoping to make the most of the bad situation at Barcelona by making an attractive offer for the star in the making.
Manchester United are willing to offer up to £25m for Sergio Busquets and given that Barcelona have Argentine Mascherano on standby then Pep Guardiola may deem it more reasonable to take an offer for the local born talent than have to readjust their pay scale as the Nou Camp boss will know that if he gives in to these demands then other players may also demand huge increases in pay.
