Aston Villa are looking to land Wigan duo Maynor Figueroa and Hugo Rodallega, skysports.com understands.
Villa are ready to make major strides in the transfer market after so far failing to land any of their targets this month.
The Midlands outfit are now believed to be lining up a double deal for the Latics duo after owner Randy Lerner give the green light to make the move.
Skysports.com understands that Villa are ready to pay £10million for the pair, with Figueroa valued at £4million and Rodallega £6million.

Gerard Houllier has not covered himself with glory during his three and half months as Aston Villa boss and now the Frenchman is fighting a relegation battle but such is the tightness of the division that a couple of wins could change everything. With that in mind the Villa Park manager is looking to freshen things up at the club.
A move for Wigan pair Hugo Rolledega and Maynor Figueroa may not get the fans blood pumping but perhaps their experience at the wrong end of the table could be useful. Colombian international Rolladega has been a relative success at the DW Stadium and he appears keen on a new challenge and Figueroa was strongly linked with a move to Liverpool during the summer.
Randy Lerner appears reticent to bankroll big moves in the transfer market and any signings may have to be offset by sales but Houllier appears to want to sell a few of his squad players anyway so that won’t be an issues. The likes of John Carew, Stephen Ireland, Stephen Warnock and Richard Dunne are said to be available for transfer and many sides are reportedly interested.
