Stoke boss Tony Pulis has made a £4million bid for West Ham’s Mark Noble.
Midfielder Noble, 23, has been a regular under Avram Grant, but Pulis believes the Hammers could struggle to turn down a substantial bid.
Potters chairman Peter Coates will release funds this month for Pulis – who is also keen on Noble’s Upton Park team-mate Carlton Cole.
“I like to do a bit of business in January, because it freshens things up,” said Pulis. “I’ll be in the market, looking for one or two – but they must be the right deals and better than what we’ve got.
“You’re always looking for people who have got something to prove and have a desire to keep their careers going.”
A string of players are also on their way out of the Britannia Stadium. (Daily Mirror)
Tony Pulis appears keen to do some big business this month and is already planning a big cull at the Britannia with the likes of Eidur Gudjohnsen on their way out. Now the Stoke City boss is looking to pick up a couple of bargains at Upton Park.
Avram Grant needs all the players he can get and he will surely not look to sell any first team players until he has others ready to come in and surely Mark Noble and Carlton Cole (regardless of the spat between the player and the boss) are too important to be sold off on the cheap this month as both would be very useful in helping the club stave off relegation.
The Potters are ready to offer around £12m for the pair now but if they fail and West Ham do go down to the Championship then Pulis could probably get both for far less.
