Blackpool captain Charlie Adam insists it is “easy” to focus on his football despite all the speculation concerning his future.
Adam is a target for several Premier League clubs and has been the subject of failed bids from Aston Villa and Birmingham, in addition to being linked with Liverpool.
Seasiders boss Ian Holloway has criticised Villa’s approach for the midfielder and is adamant the Scotland international would only leave Bloomfield Road for one of the big clubs.
The 25-year-old impressed again in Blackpool’s defeat by West Brom at the weekend and says he has no problems concentrating on his game.
“I am not here to speak about speculation,” said Adam. “There is nothing I can say on it.
“Is it hard to concentrate on my game when clubs are putting bids in? No, it is easy.
“At the end of the day I am a footballer and I want to keep playing.
“If anyone has seen the performances I have had over the last month or so, then they will know the speculation has not derailed me.” (Sportinglife.com)
If Charlie Adam does want to leave Bloomfield Road, his displays on the pitch for Blackpool certainly don’t make it obvious.
Or do they?
The better he plays, the more he makes himself an attractive purchase in the shop window for clubs – motivation enough to perform at his best if he wants to leave.
The three clubs linked to Charlie Adam are Aston Villa, Birmingham City and Liverpool – with the former two clubs both having had bids rejected already.
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is believed to be discussing transfer targets in a meeting with club owners John W Henry and Tom Werner tonight, and the Blackpool midfielder represents an excellent prospective signing at a most reasonable price.
