Real Madrid boss are preparing a substantial bid for Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie as the Bernabeu side looks to resolve his lack of effective striking options. Boss Jose Mourinho has found himself with just one recognised striker with first choice Gonzalo Higuain sidelined with a herniated disc, and given that the one striker concerned is French international Karim Benzema, who has netted just one La Liga goal all season, the matter is deemed somewhat problematic.
The La Liga giants have been linked with a number of short term solutions to the problem with the likes of Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Miroslav Klose being linked with moves to the club but beyond this current season Mourinho has realised that his lack of firepower must be corrected in the summer and to that end will make an offer in the region of €30m (£25.1m) for the Emirates striker.
Robin Van Persie has had more than his fair share of injuries in recent years but is currently fighting fit and this will give the Portuguese boss time to access his form before making an offer in the summer as he feels a move in January is highly likely to fail.
Arsene Wenger will attempt to fight off interest from Spain but Jose Mourinho will hope that Robin Van Persie may be tempted by a new challenge and such temptation may be far more evident if the Gunners once again finish a season without any significant silverware.
