Manchester United are readying a January bid for Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez as Sir Alex Fergson fears losing a long term target to interest shown by Inter Milan and Chelsea. The Old Trafford boss had previously hinted that he would not be making any moves during the current transfer window but will now reportedly prepare an offer in the hope of pipping all other interested parties to a player he has been pursuing for some time.
The talented 22 year old Chilean has been a big hit in Italy and is now in his third season in Serie A and his performances of late have led to a flurry of very real interest in the former River Plate man and offers in the region of £25m have apparently been offered to a hitherto uninterested Udinese side who had repeatedly batted away interest in their prized asset.
However it seems that the Francesco Guidolin’s side are about to seriously consider selling as long as the price is right. Manchester United have been monitoring Sanchez for some time and are readying a move to sign the young winger.
Ferguson has been looking to bring in new young talents to his squad as he looks to build a new generation of talent as some of his ageing stalwarts near retirement. To this end the club have brought in the likes of Javier Hernandez and Chris Smalling and the club’s owners have guaranteed that finances would be available to make substantial offers for big name targets.
Whilst there original intention may have been to wait until the summer to try to secure Alexis Sanchez, events have forced their hand somewhat and an offer is reportedly on the cards.
Sanchez has notched up 14 goals and as many assists over the past two and a half seasons and has become a crucial part of the club’s attempts to push towards the top six this season.
