Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly taken an interest in QPR playmaker Adel Taarabt and may consider a move for the Moroccan international. The former Tottenham man has been in sparkling form this season and has been pivotal in the West London club’s superb season thus far and his performances have helped Neil Warnock’s side stay at the top of the Championship for pretty much the entire season.
The 21 year old flair player spent the best part of three years trying to impress a succession of Tottenham manager’s of his worth but was in the end offloaded to the Hoops after a successful season long loan period at the club last season.
This term has seen the attacking midfielder up his game even further and his consistent displays have caught the attention of many Premier League scouts and apparently Ferguson has been monitoring his progress and likes what he has seen.
Ferguson is looking to freshen things up at Old Trafford and a number of reports have suggested that in the summer he will offload some of his squad players and others coming to the end of their deals will not be offered new terms as the Scot attempts to build a new generation of talent at the club.
To this end they have brought in the likes of Chris Smalling, Anders Lindegaard and Javier Hernandez who are all very much part of the club’s future plans and such have been the outstanding displays of the QPR starlet that he may well have piqued Ferguson’s interest.
Taarabt only cost QPR £1m but his value is said to have increased dramatically in a season that has seen the former Lens youth team player score 13 times and assist many more, to the extent that he is now valued at around £6-8m. The likes of Newcastle United have already been linked with moves to sign the in form attacker and whilst QPR will fight off advances from top tier sides they may not be able to prevent the youngster from having his head turned by such interest.
