Real Madrid will make a shock move to sign Argentine striker Sergio Aguero from city rivals Atletico this summer. Spanish publication AS has revealed that Jose Mourinho will make an offer of €35m (£30.1) in the summer and that the Bernabeu boss sees the 22 year old as the answer to his sides lack of effective striking options.
Mourinho has been forced into playing misfiring French international Karim Benzema for the past couple of months due to a long term injury suffered by first choice starter Gonzalo Higuain, this has left the Real Madrid boss realising just how threadbare his strike force is and this has led to a number of targets being pursued this month in the hope of securing a short term solution to the lack of fire-power.
The likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Miroslav Klose have been linked with January moves to the La Liga giants and it appears to transpire that the reason the Real Madrid boss is only looking for a short term solution is that he hopes to bring in Aguero when the season comes to a close.
There had been mention of a move for fellow Argentine Carlos Tevez but the Manchester City goal machine has since rescinded his intention to leave Eastlands which has led Mourinho to Aguero. The Atletico Madrid man has been a very consistent performer at the Vicente Calderon, scoring 89 goals in four and a half seasons but Diego Maradona’s son-in-law will no doubt be sorely tempted by the short move to Real Madrid, a move that will no doubt make him enemy number one among the Los Rojiblancos faithful.
