Sir Alex Ferguson will be a busy man this summer as he looks to bring in an adequate replacement for Dutch veteran Edwin Van der Sar and a move for Atletico Madrid youngster David de Gea may be the way to go. The young Spanish keeper has impressed many with his mature performances that belie his age and the Old Trafford stand ready to pounce for the £10m rated 20 year old if his La Liga side consider offers for his services.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are also said to be interested but given that the two Spanish giants have stone cold cast iron first choice goalies in Iker Casillas and Victor Valdes, it seems that the Atletico man would have to be confident he could unseat either before he made those moves.
Recent Danish signing Anders Lindegaard looks set to be a back up for any new signing but that hasn’t stopped the 26 year old hoping he can fill the void left by the ever reliable Van der Sar. However it does seem that Ferguson is looking elsewhere and the likes of Manuel Neuer, Maarten Stekelenburg and Gianluigi Buffon have also been linked with moves to the club.
