Chelsea are still engaged in the pursuit of the Benfica defender David Luiz and will attempt to complete a £25.5m deal for the Brazilian today.
The deal for Luiz faltered on Friday, when Benfica announced that they had been unable to reach agreement over how the £25.5m fee would be paid.
There were no further negotiations over the weekend but Chelsea intend to make a revised offer in order to bolster their defensive options.

Many thought that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich had lost interest in the club after he dipped into his wallet less in recent transfer windows than the first few under his wing.
Still, a return to the spectacular seems on the cards, and with the Chelsea team getting on in age, the Blues seem set on Fernando Torres and David Luiz to boost their ranks – and reduce the age of the squad significantly.
If the negotiation process for Luiz solely depends on when the full amount would be paid by, there is certainly still time for Benfica and Chelsea to come to an arrangement – which will certainly aid Carlo Ancelotti’s team in the second half of the season.
