Torres could remain at Liverpool following agent miscommunication
Fernando Torres is desperately trying to backtrack on his transfer request and may well stay at Liverpool after all.
Torres is said to be furious with his agent for putting in the transfer request AFTER Liverpool had done the deal to sign Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez from Ajax.
Now unless Liverpool are tempted by a near £60m bid for the Spanish World Cup winner’s services, with Chelsea the only name in the frame at the moment, it is likely the two parties will get their heads together and work out a peace deal.
The prospect of Torres teaming up with Suarez is a mouth-watering one and he may be persuaded to stay, even though he is thought to be desperate to join a club where he can achieve his dream of winning trophies. That won’t be helped by the fact that Liverpool are unlikely to be in the Champions League next season but with Suarez alongside him the trophy-winnig days might not be too far away if all parties can be patient.
Interesting indeed. Could this be accurate? Liverpool will have been tearing their collective hair out when they first heard of Fernando Torres’s intention to leave the Merseyside club but this source seems to believe that talk of a transfer request may have been a miscommunication.
If this was indeed the case then one would have thought that the Spaniard would have spoken out a bit earlier than on transfer deadline day. The 26 year old is held in high regard by Liverpool supporters and his cult like status would clearly have taken a pummelling if he is indeed looking to leave the club, but perhaps it was all a horrible dream?
Clearly the signing of Ajax star Luis Suarez would have shown Torres that Liverpool were able to land big stars and with moves to sign Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam and Aston Villa winger Ashley Young it seems that the club’s new owners are ready to splash the cash for new signings so perhaps talk of a transfer request was hasty?
