For those who didn’t see the incident in question the video is after the jump. Basically it appears that a Birmingham City player, probably Barry Ferguson, smashed defender Laurent Koscielny quite deliberately during the celebrations that followed the winner in yesterday’s Carling Cup Final. Now it is quite probable that Ferguson was simply wanting to pat the centre back on the head in a fairly standard post mess-up mocking fashion. However the pat on the head was pretty much a punch, so Jack Wilshere is probably right to use twitter to register his disapproval.

Probably the clearest red card you will see for a while. FC Twente defender Douglas had already slapped an AZ opponent and been given a straight red, he then attempted to head-butt the referee, was restrained by his team-mates, but not enough to prevent him hitting an AZ player on his way off the pitch. The image below has been doing the rounds and it appears to split Old Trafford fans down the middle. You will see below the bench at the DW Stadium. On that bench you will see Ryan Giggs focused on the game and mentally prepared if needed. Either side of him you will also see Gabriel Obertan and Bebe, one listening to his Ipod and the other using his mobile. Now if that particular pair of Man United players had been bang in form then perhaps this wouldn’t have irritated people so much, but as they have both performed like donkeys ever since their arrival at the club, then the image will of course conjure up feelings of displeasure among the club’s supporters.
