CHRIS Samba has pledged his long-term future to Blackburn Rovers.
The team captain has agreed an extended contract which will keep him at Ewood Park until the summer of 2015.
Rovers’ manager Steve Kean said: “This is more great news for us.
“Chris is a major part of the picture at Rovers and his form has created a lot of interest from around the football world.
“The fact that he wants to be part of what we are trying to build here is further evidence of the exciting times that lie ahead.”
[Samba] said: “It is a good feeling. We have been in discussions for a little time and I needed a couple of answers.
“But the way we have played and the players the manager has brought in means we are not far off being a top club in the league.
“I’m in a period of my career where I need to make important choices, I’ve made the choice to take the challenge to try and take the club as high as possible, to maintain that position and to be recognised as one of the top clubs in the country.”

Quite a U-turn from Christopher Samba.
When Sam Allardyce was sacked as Blackburn Rovers manager and Venky’s Group were getting to grips with the running of a football club, Samba made it clear that he wanted to leave Ewood Park.
Arsenal and Lyon were believed to be the favourites to secure his signature, but now it seems that something is beginning to be built at Blackburn.
More aesthetically pleasing football is being played by the team, and some interesting signings have been made.
Blackburn Rovers now appear to be on the right track, and with the surprise choice of permanent manager Steve Kean looking an inspired choice.
They are now in 8th, and have realistic hopes of a UEFA Europa League spot at the end of the season.
