Liverpool are reportedly keen on making a summer move for Bolton centre back Gary Cahill as Anfield Director of Football Damien Comolli draws up plans to freshen up the club’s back four. The England international defender has been the subject of much transfer speculation with Arsenal said to have made an offer for the Reebok Stadium star.
Kenny Dalglish made a last ditch offer to Manchester City for adaptable defender Micah Richards but failed to convince the Eastlands side to sell and the Liverpool boss still believes the club needs to solidify it’s back line after seeing the Merseyside club concede 31 goals this season.
Veterans Jamie Carragher and Sotiros Kyrgiakos are in the latter stages of their respective careers and Martin Skrtel has had a very up and down season whilst Daniel Agger has been linked with an exit which stems from his displeasure under previous boss Roy Hodgson.
Dalglish and Comolli are apparently big admirers of the Bolton defender but will not be prepared to meet the inflated asking price of £25m, a fee that also scared off Arsene Wenger but Liverpool may feel that they can persuade Wanderers to accept less given their financial problems.
