Reebok Stadium pair on White Hart Lane summer shopping list.
Tottenham are weighing up a summer move for Bolton midfielder Stuart Holden as Harry Redknapp looks to strengthen his squad ahead of a major White Hart Lane clear-out. The Spurs boss has been monitoring the progress of the American international who has been in fine form at the Reebok Stadium this season.
The 25 year old former Houston Dynamo midfielder has been in excellent form this season and has become a crucial part of Owen Coyle’s much improved Bolton side who are battling for European qualification due in no small part to the Aberdeen born star’s tough tackling intelligent box to box performances.
Redknapp has stated on many occasions his desire to bring in central midfielders and is ready to swing the axe at the North London club as he looks to make room in his expansive squad for new additions. The likes of Jermaine Jenas, Wilson Palacios, David Bentley, Robbie Keane and Roman Pavyluchenko have all been linked with moves away from the top four chasing side.
£12m rated Holden has taken to life in the English top tier amazing well and Coyle will have to think long and hard about any offer for his services whilst at the same time chairman Phil Gartside knows he needs to generate funds to help pay off the club’s big debts and it may well prove that the Lancashire club have to sell one of their stars this summer.
Bolton stars Gary Cahill and Fabrice Muamba have also been linked with interest from Premier League sides and it seems likely that the Trotters will have to sell one of their first team stars in order to help balance the books.
Indeed England international Cahill is also a player very much on Redknapp’s radar as he seeks to resolve his central defensive problems that have been caused in the main to recurring injury problems suffered by Jonathan Woodgate and Ledley King as well decidedly average displays from French veteran William Gallas.
