Blackpool striker Gary Taylor-Fletcher wants a new contract to stay at Bloomfield Road to help keep his side in the Premier league.
The 27-year-old’s contract expires in the summer but has the option of a one year extension which he is keen to take up.
Taylor-Fletcher has lived the rags-to-riches footballers life, starting in non-league with Northwich Victoria before working his way up to the Premier League.
He moved to Blackpool in 2007 for an undisclosed fee from Huddersfield and established himself as a key player for the Seasiders.
But Taylor-Fletcher is not the only Blackpool player out of contract at the end of the season.
Matt Gilks and David Vaughan are also free-agents but Taylor-Fletcher says it is important to keep the core of the squad.
“I’ve got a one-year option on my current contract for next year and we will see how it goes,” Taylor-Fletcher told Sky Sports.
“I am in my final year of my contract and I would love another year here.
“I want to help Blackpool stay in the Premier League and hopefully I will be playing with Blackpool in the Premier League again next season.”
“There are a number of the lads who are also out of contract in the summer and I hope they all stay,” added Taylor-Fletcher.
“It is very important to keep the squad together as some of those players are the heart and soul of the club.
“It is part and parcel of football that players are coming into the last few months of their contracts and if players move on I am sure we will be able to replace them, but hopefully we can keep hold of them and build around them.”
