AC Milan have started their search for new firepower with Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli at the top of their list.
The Rossoneri’s current strike pairing of Robinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were easily nullified by Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday as the English side went on to win 1-0 in the first-leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.
Now according to Il Corriere dello Sport, the Milan hierarchy have seen enough of misfiring at the San Siro and have turned their attention to Balotelli.
The former Inter Milan striker has been continually dropping hints of a move to AC Milan despite only joining the Eastlands club last summer.
Meanwhile, out-of-favour Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner is also under the radar of Milan as his future at the Emirates remains in a cloud of doubt.
Nicklas Bendtner played his part during a cameo sub appearance during Arsenal’s win over Barcelona but the Danish international may wonder if it isn’t time to move on from the North London club this summer. The The 23 year old striker has found himself falling further down the Gunners pecking order following the arrival of Moroccan international Marouane Chamakh and has made just one Premier League start this season.
The powerfully built striker is now in his fourth season in the Arsenal first team but seems no nearer to becoming a first team regular so a move to AC Milan will surely tempt him, if indeed such a move is forthcoming. However one wonders if Bendtner won’t be simply swapping one subs bench for another.
After all AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has a strong attacking line up as it is with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robinho, Alexandre Pato, Filippo Inzaghi and Antonio Cassano in his armoury.
Either way Bendtner would do well to look for another challenge as with Wenger opting for playing with one striker up front the chances of a run in the first team would normally revolved around waiting for Robin Van Persie getting his usual annual injury, but now that slot will go to Marouane Chamakh. Wenger also has Carlos Vela to call upon and exciting youngsters like Benik Afobe, Gilles Sunu and Sanchez Watt for the future.
