Barcelona have announced they will be opening a training academy in Surrey less than two miles from Chelsea’s training ground.
The academy is the first training camp established by the La Liga champions outside of Spain.
From April, Barcelona will begin coaching 300 students from the ages of six to 16 at a school in Cobham.
The school is situated less than two miles from Chelsea’s training ground and attended by the children of Didier Drogba and Yossi Benayoun.
Barcelona officials say they understand they will be competing with the Blues for spotting talent but feel both sides can benefit.
“We are not coming here to be in competition with Chelsea,” said academy coach Xevi Marce.
“We are going to start slowly but surely to build a team here, train all the kids and get that passion.
“In the future we might lose a player or two to Chelsea or the other way around. It is not a problem.”
