Newcastle United Alan Pardew is interested in signing West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie this summer as the St James’ Park boss looks to bring in new additions to boost his strike force. The Nigerian international has had a good first season at The Hawthorns, despite the Baggies being in a relegation battle.
Signed from Lokomotiv Moscow in the summer, 29 year old Odemwingie has taken to life in the English top tier remarkably well, netting nine goals from twenty Premier League starts but the skilful striker has more to his game than simply finding the back of the net and is also a great maker of chances for his team-mates.
Pardew was unable to sign a striker in the remaining hours of the transfer window that followed the eleventh hour sale of top scorer Andy Carroll to Liverpool and that has left the Magpies boss having to hope that he can get the most out of the likes of Leon Best, Peter Lovenkrands, Nile Ranger and Shola Ameobi for the rest of this season.
However the Newcastle United boss will then look to sign new additions using the cash from Carroll’s £35m sale to Liverpool and high up on that wish-list is the West Bromwich goalscorer who is believed to be valued at around £6m
