Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish made a dash to watch Celtic’s brilliant Honduras left-back Emilio Izaguirre yesterday as he looks to solve his problem position.
Dalglish saw the cavalier World Cup defender in top form – setting up the second goal in the Old Firm win over Rangers at Parkhead – and will be in the race for him this summer.
Izaguirre is also on Manchester United’s wanted list.
But the Merseysiders are looking at him as a first-team player rather than the Old Trafford plan to land him as a squad man.

Manchester United are also chasing Biram Kayal who has been excellent at Celtic since his move to Parkhead in the summer. The former Maccabi Haifa midfielder has shown great maturity in his role as enforcer in the centre of the park and the 22 year old has adapted well to the SPL and Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly considering a move to bring the Israeli international to Old Trafford.
Ferguson has been looking to bring more steel to his midfield and the long term injury concerns over Owen Hargreaves are fuelling his need even further and the Scot is looking to offload the likes of Darron Gibson and Michael Carrick as he looks to freshen up things at the table topping side.
Liverpool are looking for a new left back and former Celtic legend Kenny Dalglish likes the look of Emilio Izaguirre, who like Kayal, has seamlessly taken to life in a much bigger league than he was previously used to. The Anfield boss is likely to offload Emiliano Insua and Paul Konchesky and may also elect to sell Glen Johnson who is currently playing on the left because youngster Martin Kelly is doing such a sterling job at right back.
Neil Lennon’s scouting ability has almost led the club to becoming a victim of it’s own success. Moves for these two lesser known youngsters were cheap and it seems that the Scottish Premier League title hopefuls may have to decide whether to accept big money offers for either of this pair or elect to keep two players who are a big part of what has proven to be a very successful season thus far.
