Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly considering a last gasp move to sign Feyenoord teenager Luc Castaignos who is reportedly very close to completing a much anticipated £6m move to Inter Milan this summer. The much sought after striker is said to be in the process of agreeing personal terms with the Serie A giants but the Manchester United boss is looking into perhaps stealing the youngster from under the noses of the reigning Champions League holders.
The Old Trafford boss is keen to bring the best young talent in Europe in order to supplement those produced by the club’s academy. In this vein Ferguson brought in the likes of Chris Smalling and Mexican international Javier Hernandez last summer and with many of Man United’s veterans set to bow out over the next 18 months moves are afoot to bring in youthful additions.
Castaignos is considered one of the hottest prospects in European football and has had a great season at Feyenoord this term and is widely expected to complete his move to Italy but not before Ferguson considers making an offer the 18 year old may be tempted by.
Manchester United have a number of ageing players who they will seek to replace over the coming years and as well as seeking to complete that transition it appears that Ferguson will waste no time in axing those who have failed to impress with the likes of Bebe and Gabriel Obertan’s careers at the club hanging in the balance.
