Manchester United are suffering a minor injury crisis ahead of their Champions League last-16 tie with Olympique Marseille.
Anderson, Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs, Jonny Evans and Michael Owen have all been ruled out of the game and did not travel with the squad to France.
The injuries mean Sir Alex Ferguson has called up untried duo 18-year-old Ryan Tunnicliffe and 19-year-old Joshua King, after impressing in the reserves.
The Manchester-born Tunnicliffe is a powerful midfielder who likes to tackle, pass and score goals. He has been likened to Roy Keane.
The Norwegian King has been in fine goal-scoring form for the reserves and is a tall and powerful player. He is a strong runner with or without the ball and can beat defenders.
The injuries are more of a concern for Ferguson who will explain more in his press conference today (Tuesday).
Anderson played in Saturday’s FA Cup victory over Crawley Town but was taken off at half-time.
Ferdinand has not played since injuring his calf before facing Wolves on 5 February, while fellow centre-back Evans has an ankle problem.
Giggs and Owen were in the squad which played Manchester City on 12 February.
Full 22-man squad:
Van der Sar, Kuszczak, Lindegaard; Vidic, O’Shea, Brown, Rafael, Fabio, Evra, Smalling; Scholes, Gibson, Nani, Carrick, Fletcher, Bebe, Obertan, Tunnicliffe; Rooney, Berbatov, Hernandez, King.
