Real Madrid are considering summer moves for Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas and Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney.
Club president Florentino Perez has refused to rule out an approach for the Premier League stars and after their blockbusting £80m deal for Cristiano Ronaldo two summers ago, an equally ambitious swoop cannot be dismissed. However, Perez has stopped short of openly courting the pair.
“Cesc Fabregas and Wayne Rooney? When the season is over, we’ll talk to the coach and see what the system needs,” Perez told Goal.com.

It seems that Real Madrid want to flex their financial muscle again and have made it their goal to land two big Premier League stars this summer. Jose Mourinho hopes to overhaul Barcelona for either the La Liga or Champions League crowns and feels that the best way of doing so would be to bring in Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, but do they really have a chance of signing either?

Arsene Wenger has become experienced at turning down offers for his mercurial skipper but to be honest it probably doesn’t have to expend too much energy on this one as clearly there is no chance that the Spanish international will leave for Barcelona’s arch rivals Real Madrid and if the 23 year old does leave the North London club it will only be to move back to the Nou Camp.

The Gunners boss is also having to deal with reported interest in Samir Nasri, Andrei Arshavin and Robin Van Persie and will hope to secure a piece of significant silverware to help ward off any big name departures from the Emirates Stadium.

Sir Alex Ferguson will have noted the drop in form from Rooney this term but will also not consider offers for the England international, not least because the Old Trafford side had to go through a whole load of turmoil when the 25 year old held the club to ransom in the search of a bumper new deal, a tactic that appeared to work in his favour whilst also souring his relationship with the club’s supporters somewhat.

The Man United boss is considering a clear-out this summer with the likes of Michael Owen, Owen Hargreaves, Darron Gibson, Bebe, Gabriel Obertan, Michael Carrick, Jonny Evans and Danny Welbeck all apparently surplus to requirements at the Premier League table toppers.
