Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini will undergo ankle surgery next week ruling him out of the rest of the season.
The Belgium international’s teammate Tim Cahill will also be sidelined with a foot injury.
Fellaini, 23, aggravated the injury in the 2-0 victory over Sunderland and missed the shock 1-0 FA Cup loss to Reading.
Manager David Moyes confirmed the news Fellaini will miss the Toffees battle to avoid relegation, as they lie five points clear of third from bottom Wolves.
“Marouane is going to be out for the season now, he will have an operation on Monday,” confirmed Moyes.
In a double blow for Everton, Moyes also confirmed talismanic midfielder Cahill will be sidelined for at least two weeks with a foot problem.
“Everybody who has watched us will tell you he has been a key player for us and Tim Cahill will probably miss two or three weeks as well,” Moyes added.
