Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Mario Goetze would love to move to Theatre of Dreams and showcase his skills in the Premier League
Borussia Dortmund teenager Mario Goetze has set the Bundesliga alight this season with a plethora of glorious displays for his club.
Dortmund lead the table in Germany by an astonishing 12 points already, and recently outplayed Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena, which culminated in an impressive 3-1 away win for the champions elect.
Gotze has been a major part of that success, and a recent interview with Kicker Magazine has alerted Europe’s top clubs to the young attacking midfielder.
“Who would not dream of playing with a club like Real Madrid, FC Barcelona or Manchester United?” asked Gotze.
Sir Alex Ferguson may believe Goetze could be the long term replacement for Paul Scholes.
Sir Alex Ferguson appears to feel he needs an attack minded central midfielder to help boost creativity at the Old Trafford club and a move for Mario Goetze will definitely help in that regard but one wonders if the youngster is going to want to leave a Borussia Dortmund side he helped win the Bundesliga, as it seems highly unlikely Jurgen Klopp’s side will throw away their 12 point lead at the top of the table.
Manchester United have plenty of central midfielders but arguably none of them are out and out attack minded and they also do not provide the club with much in the way of goals. Anderson, Michael Carrick, Darren Fletcher, Darron Gibson and Paul Scholes are used in the central role and whilst they all have something to offer the club does not have a central midfielder who is going to get into double figures in goal terms. In relation to this, Chelsea have Frank Lampard, Liverpool have Steven Gerrard and Arsenal have Cesc Fabregas.
Scholes clearly used to do this job but is now a far more brittle player who doesn’t venture forward as much as he did in his pomp. Goetze has a great deal of potential and is considered one of the hottest prospects in European football and is already an established part of the German international set-up and is the leading assist maker in the Bundesliga, all this and he is still three months away from his 19th birthday!
