Aston Villa have had a £10million offer for Liile striker Gervinho rejected as the Ligue 1 side want more.
Gerard Houllier made the bid in January according to French newspaper Sport.
Gervinho has had a fine season, scoring eleven goals and firing Lille to the top of the table.
Lille believe they can get at least £15million for the 23-year-old in the summer especially if his goals wins them the title.
Houllier is likely to go after his man again at the end of the season but may face competition from Newcastle United and Bayern Munich.
The manager is ready to offload John Carew, Stephen Ireland and Nigel Reo-Coker to generate the necessary funds to land the Ivory Coast frontman.
