Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew will look to bring Tottenham duo David Bentley and Roman Pavlyuchenko to St James’ Park this summer. The Magpies manager is looking to bring in new additions and it appears that owner Mike Ashley is willing to put his hands in his pockets to appease supporters who are looking to the club to re-invest the £35m that the club received from the sale of Andy Carroll to Liverpool in January.
That sale left a big hole in the club’s attack and to that end Pardew has been linked with a myriad of potential striking targets and there was talk that the club were hoping to sign out of contract Brazilian Ewerthon but that deal appears dead in the water so it is likely that Newcastle United will have to make do with the current crop of strikers with Peter Lovenkrands and Leon Best showing an up turn in form in recent weeks.
Pardew will look to bring unhappy Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko in the summer and the Russian may well be tempted by the chance to play regular football having spent the past three seasons as a back up at White Hart Lane. To the former Spartak Moscow man’s credit the 29 year old has been reasonably prolific, netting 34 goals in 89 appearances of which 33 came from the bench.
As well as Pavlyuchenko Pardew is hoping to sign winger David Bentley who is currently on loan at Birmingham City and almost certainly will be leaving Tottenham this summer. The pair would cost Newcastle United a combined fee of around £18m.
