Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan has moved to Leeds United on-loan until the end of the season.
The Scotland international has made 19 appearances for Villa this season but will help the Yorkshire club in their bid for promotion.
The 21-year-old is highly rated by the Gerard Houllier and his move has come as a big surprise.
Bannan made 24 appearances on-loan at Blackpool as they secured promotion during the last Championship campaign, coming off the bench in the play-off final.
Villa have a recall clause on the youngster which comes into effect 28 days after the completion of the deal.
Bannan will go staright into the squad for Leeds’ Tuesday night squad to face Preston but the Whites’ manager Simon Grayson is delighted to get his man.
“Barry is a player we have been tracking for a while,” Grayson told the club’s website.
“Circumstances have now changed where Villa are in a position to let him join us and I’d like to thank them for agreeing to the move.
“He’s had the opportunity to go to nearly every other team in the Championship so for him to come here makes it all the more pleasing.
“He’s used to this division and he played a major part in Blackpool’s run to get promoted last season so he has experience and he fits the bill perfectly for us.”
