Newcastle United are interested in Marseille left-back Taye Taiwo.
The People says Toon boss Alan Pardew is chasing Marseille’s Nigerian left-back Taiwo, as he looks for a replacement for Jose Enrique.
Enrique is set to join AC Milan in the summer.
Taiwo will soon be a free agent and plans to leave in the summer.
If Alan Pardew finds himself having to find an effective replacement for Spaniard Jose Enrique then he could do far worse than Marseille’s 25 year old left back Taye Taiwo who may well be keen on a move to Newcastle United this summer when he will be free to move to St James’ Park for nothing as his contract at the Ligue 1 champions is up at the end of the season.
The Nigerian international has spent seven years at the Stade Velodrome and has a great deal of top level experience and has a similar attacking ethos as Enrique who appears, according to some sources, ready to leave the Magpies for AC Milan.
Pardew will be keen to prevent any other big names leaving the club after seeing Andy Carroll make his big money move to Liverpool but is also apparently having to persuade the likes of Joey Barton and Jonas Gutierrez that their future’s lie at the club and not elsewhere.
