Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta has suffered a hamstring injury that will keep him out of action for several weeks.
The injury came in the first 10 minutes of the 1-1 draw with relegation battlers Birmingham City.
The news comes as another blow for manager David Moyes who already as Marouane Fellaini and Tim Cahill on the casualty list.
Moyes is unsure how long exactly Arteta will be out for but says his team missed his influence in the game against Birmingham.
“It looks like a hamstring injury,” Moyes told the club website. “It’s too early to say – I’m not sure but I’m guessing he will be out for a few weeks.”
“It was a big blow for us because we needed some creativity and I knew that if we didn’t have him, we would be struggling to create too much.
“Leon Osman did, but we were struggling otherwise really to make anything happen. It was a bit frustrating.
“We didn’t play well enough probably to win the game, but we had a few half-chances.”
