Ashley Young will look to force through a dream move to Manchester United in the summer.
The England forward will resist any attempt by Aston Villa to revive contract talks in a bid to clear the path to Old Trafford.
Young at heart: Aston Villa’s wing-wizard Ashley Young has his heart set on a move to Manchester United
Young is a long-term target for Sir Alex Ferguson, who views the 25-year-old as a successor to Ryan Giggs and Sportsmail understands Young has already told a number of Villa team-mates that he wants to move to United.
He could cost as little as £10million in the summer after being valued at £25m at the start of the season.
His current deal expires at the end of the next campaign and discussions over fresh terms have hit the buffers. With Villa faced with losing Young for nothing next year, they could have little option but to sell in the summer.
I want that one: Sir Alex Ferguson has a list of players he wants to revitalise his squad
The forward has held a first round of talks with Villa over a four-year deal worth in the region of £70,000 per week, but has since decided he has no intention of signing.

Aston Villa will not be happy about selling England international Ashley Young but appear to have little choice then to do so as the 25 year old stubbornly refuses to put pen to paper on a new deal and as a result Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to snap up a player he has reportedly been interested in for quite some time.
The former Watford man is clearly very keen on a move from the Midlands club and a move to the Premier League table toppers will greatly interest Young and he could help add extra quality to the wide areas at Old Trafford.
Clearly Ryan Giggs is not getting any younger and it is unknown just how Luis Antonio Valencia will have been affected by his long term injury problems. Gabriel Obertan has not done very well since his arrival at the club and Bebe has done even worse. Clearly Nani has been a huge success this term but the added addition of Ashley Young would add even more strength in depth on the wings.
Crucially Young also adds a new goal threat as Nani aside, these other wingers do not bag many of their own whereas the Aston Villa man has a knack of picking up crucial goals and has scored an impressive 60 goals in this career to date and has netted nine this term alone.
With only a year left on his deal Aston Villa stand to lose a great deal of money as Young’s valuation will steadily decline in the months that follow the end of the season and they may well have to accept as little as £10m according to this source, which in today’s inflated market would represent an absolute bargain for United.
