Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has agreed in principle to sign Everton youngster Jack Rodwell for £25million in the summer.
The deal is expected to be £20million cash up front, with another £5million in add-on clauses.
The Sun reports United made an offer for £15million in January but were rebuffed by the Merseysiders.
Ferguson is so convinced of Rodwell’s ability he has persuaded the Glazer’s to up their offer.
The 20-year-old is highly-rated at Goodison Park and signed a five-year deal last May.
He may not be the only new arrival as United will attempt a £25million double-swoop for Aston Villa duo Ashley Young and Ciaran Clark.
