Liverpool duo Daniel Agger and Jonjo Shelvey are back in training following injury problems.
But the pair will not recover in time to feature in the club’s attempts to overturn a 1-0 deficit in their Europa League tie with Braga.
Both players were suffering from knee injuries picked up in February and the news will be a boost to the squad as captain Steven Gerrard is sidelined after groin surgery.
Manager Kenny Dalglish says Agger is ahead of Shelvey in their recovery rates while defenders Martin Kelly and Fabio Aurelio are still a few weeks away from first-team action.
“Daniel Agger is improving,” Dalglish told the club’s website. “He is back training. Jonjo is back training as well. Daniel is closer than Jonjo.”
“Fabio and Martin are doing a little bit but haven’t joined in with too much exercise yet,” he added.
“They are all progressing.”
