Roman Abramovich’s Chelsea are planning a big-money money move for the Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos according to the Spanish press. Abramovich has started investing heavily in the Stamford Bridge side with the signing of Fernando Torres and David Luiz after a couple of relatively quiet years and Ramos looks to be next on the list.
The Spanish daily newspaper AS reports that Abramovich is going to sanction a €35 million bid for the Spanish defender at the end of the season. The future of current right back Bosingwa is in doubt prompting Chelsea to look for a replacement and Ramos is thought to be that man.
Real Madrid are fighting hard to ward off interest in adaptable defender Sergio Ramos but it seems that Chelsea will push on with moves to sign the Spanish international regardless. The 24 year old former Sevilla man plays predominantly at right back but has also figured in the centre of defence when needed and Carlo Ancelotti is hoping to secure the signing to help beef up his back line.
Some sources have stated that the talented defender was unhappy with life in Madrid but then other sources have quoted the player stating his love of the club and the city of Madrid so it’s hard to know who to believe. Some speculation states that Ramos is ready to sign a new deal to stay at the Bernabeu.
Chelsea could do with freshening up a back line that does not have that much strength in depth. David Luiz was brought in to offer another centre back option to go with Alex and John Terry and youngster Jeffrey Bruna. At right back the West London club have the likes of Branislav Ivanovic and Jose Bosingwa, but the Portuguese international has been strongly linked with a move to Italy this summer.
