Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could not be more pleased with the progress made by midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
The 20-year-old played for 56 minutes in the 2-2 draw against West Bromwich Albion. It was his first start in a year following a double fracture of his leg.
The Wales international played well and nearly scored but he shot straight at Scott Carson following Robin van Persie’s header hitting the bar.
Ramsey, who will play against team-mate Jack Wilshere when Wales face England on Saturday, was replaced by Nicklas Bendtner but his manager believes it was the perfect outing for the playmaker.
“He needs these kind of games,” said Wenger after the 2-2 draw with West Brom.
“I think he has a good opportunity to score in the first half [and] there was not a lot of space after.
“Ramsey was injured in February last year and we always knew that to be back playing again [would take] nine months and [to be playing] competitively in the Premier League [would take] one year. That is what has happened.”
