England defender Glen Johnson says the whole squad are united behind the reinstated captain John Terry.
The Chelsea defender will regain the armband in Saturday’s Euro 2012 qualifier with Wales following injury concerns over Rio Ferdinand.
Terry was stripped of the honour by manager Fabio Capello a year ago after an affair with the girlfriend of team-mate Wayne Bridge.
But Johnson says Terry’s reinstatement will not be divisive and he will once again prove a fine leader.
“I’m happy to play for England, regardless of who’s the captain,” he told Sky Sports News.
“Obviously Fabio’s made a decision and that’s Fabio’s decision so it’s above my head, really.”
“Obviously in the squad, everyone is professional and they go about the job in the right way so I’m sure they’ll be fine.”
“John Terry has been a fantastic captain with Chelsea and with England and I’m sure he’ll carry on doing the same job.”
