Bernabeu striker doubtful for quarter-final tie with White Hart Lane club.
Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is a doubt for the Champions League quarter-final against Tottenham on Tuesday according to reports in Spain.
The 23-year-old suffered an injury to his thigh and was substituted by France coach Laurent Blanc after 75minutes in France’s 0-0 draw with Croatia.
“He felt a little pinch in his thigh,” Blanc said.
The news is a blow for the player and manager Jose Mourinho, as the Frenchman has enjoyed his best season at the Bernabeu so far.
He started this campaign behind Gonzalo Higuain but forced his way into the reckoning after scoring 21 goals in all competitions.
Benzema has scored eight goals in his last five games but will definitely miss this weekend’s La Liga match with Sporting Gijon.
