White Hart Lane boss keen on Old Trafford star.
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp will this summer make an offer to re-sign former striker Dimitar Berbatov. The Bulgarian international has been in fine form this season and is the Premier League’s top scorer but has recently been left warming the Man United bench leaving many to believe that Sir Alex Ferguson would consider offers for the 30 year old.
Redknapp has made it clear that he is in on the look out for new attacking options and was linked with several high profile moves to sign reinforcements in January but the Tottenham boss was unable to bring in much needed firepower in the transfer window and will make a renewed attempt to address the situation when the transfer window re-opens.
Tottenham’s current quartet of have all struggled to make an impact whilst on Premier League duty this term, Robbie Keane, Jermain Defoe, Roman Palyuchenko and Peter Crouch have netted just 13 goals between them in domestic league duty but conversely have managed 15 in Champions League matches this term.
Dimitar Berbatov is having his best season since his move to England just under five years ago and was seemingly set to put pen to paper on a lucrative contract extension a few months back but has since seen his first team spot handed to Javier Hernandez as Ferguson opts to play the young Mexican alongside Wayne Rooney in recent weeks.
Berbatov will have just one year left on his current contract in the summer and will be hesitant about to sign a new deal if he feels that first team football will not be guaranteed and a move back to North London may well appeal to cultured forward who experienced two successful seasons at the club during which time he netted 46 goals.
Harry Redknapp is reportedly ready to offer up to £20m for Berbatov whereas Ferguson may be looking to use the in form striker as a make-weight in his pursuit of Gareth Bale, a deal that the Spurs boss is not interested in entertaining, preferring instead to offer a straight cash offer.
