Anfield assistant in talks to sign new deal.
Liverpool caretaker manager Kenny Dalglish has received the biggest hint yet that he is to be handed the job on a permanent basis as Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group are set to open talks with his assistant, Steve Clarke, over a long-term deal at the Anfield club.
Dalglish brought Clarke to Liverpool days into his second spell at the club and the Scot has become an important figure at Anfield, playing a key role in Liverpool’s revival under Kenny Dalglish.
Dalglish would be keen on keeping Clarke at Liverpool should he be given the Anfield hotseat on a permanent basis and the news will surely act as an encouragement to both him and the Liverpool faithful, who are also keen on seeing the Kop legend installed on a permanent basis.
The move would also implement much needed stability at Liverpool, following almost two years of turbulance both on and off the field.
Liverpool have experienced a sharp upturn in form since the arrival of Dalglish and Clarke with the Merseyside club notching up seven wins, three draws and three defeats in the 13 Premier League matches they have presided over.
