Old Trafford keen to move on.
WAYNE ROONEY last night admitted he was wrong to try to turn his back on Manchester United.
The England hitman wanted out of Old Trafford six months ago after publicly questioning the strength and ambition of the club.
Today, United are closing in on a Premier League and Champions League double. And Rooney said: “When I look at it now, how wrong was I!
“Obviously, I understand I made a mistake. I admitted that and I apologised for that and I have wanted to try and prove myself again to the Manchester United fans. I feel I am doing that now.
“It was a long time ago now and, hopefully, now I am helping this team be successful.
“It would be a great end to the season with a Champions League final and winning the League. I am 100 per cent committed to this club.”

Clearly Wayne Rooney angered many of his Man United supporters when he pushed for an Old Trafford exit and there will be some who can still not forgive the 25 year old England man for effectively holding the club to ransom in pursuit for an even more obscene wage than the one he was being handed at the time. However, time moves on and admitting the mistake has clearly helped to win over the affection of some of those who were sickened by his behaviour.
Things look a lot brighter now for the striker and a rich vein of form has come a long at just the right time and Sir Alex Ferguson will be looking to Rooney to spearhead the attack for the upcoming crucial Premier and Champions League encounters.
