San Siro youngster targeted by Anfield director of football.
Liverpool are planning an ambitious move to lure Inter Milan youngster Philippe Coutinho to Anfield this summer. The Merseyside club are hoping to tempt the 18 year old into leaving San Siro after hearing that the teenager is considering leaving the Serie A side after failing to secure a regular first team spot.
Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli has targeted the young Brazilian according to Gazzeta dello Sport and similarly tried to sign the Rio born teenager when he took charge of new additions at St Etienne prior to his arrival at the Premier League club last November.
Attacking midfielder Coutinho made his debut for Inter Milan at the Super Cup Final back in August and was a regular member of the first team squad under former boss Rafa Benitez, but since the arrival of Leonardo his chances have been few and far between.
Kenny Dalglish is looking to plan for the futute and Liverpool’s new owners are keen to invest in youthful additions to help supplement the home grown talent that is beginning to come through into the first team. Fenway Sports Group invested the money made from the sale of Fernando Torres and Ryan Babel on new strike pairing Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll.
Dalglish has been keen to blood new youngsters this term and the likes of Martin Kelly, Jack Robinson and John Flanagan have all impressed and a move to sign €10m (£8.6m) rated Coutinho is an ambitious one and given Comolli’s pedigree, such a capture is indeed very possible.
