Old Trafford boss set to make move for Rennes youngster.
Manchester United are reportedly hot on the heels of youngster Yann M’Vila as French sources state that Sir Alex Ferguson has already made contact with Rennes about a proposed fee for the French international. The Old Trafford side will be aware that scouts from Real Madrid and AC Milan have been spotted at the Ligue 1 club but will be keen to land a defensive midfielder to replace injury plagued England man Owen Hargreaves.
Hargreaves will see his current contract run out this summer and Ferguson lacks out and out steely central midfielders and is known to be an admirer of the powerfully built 20 year old. M’Vila has helped his side to within reach of Champions League qualification but is felt to have outgrown his Brittany based side and will know that a high profile move this summer will help maintain his presence in the French national team set-up.
Whilst Man United have their fair share of central midfielders, with the likes of Darren Fletcher, Anderson, Michael Carrick, Paul Scholes and Darron Gibson as his disposal, but Ferguson is still said to be looking to add more steel to his midfield and has set his sights on Amiens born starlet.
Yann M’Vila is thought to be valued at around €20m (£17m) by Rennes and that is a fee that Sir Alex Ferguson is apparently willing to pay to replace Owen Hargreaves this summer.
