Anfield side reportedly enter talks with Lille for talented youngster Eden Hazard.
Liverpool have made a formal approach for £20million-rated rising star Eden Hazard.
Anfield chiefs asked the young winger’s French side Lille to keep them informed of all developments in the close-season chase for the Belgium international.
Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is ready to battle it out with other interested parties, such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid, for the signature of one of the finest new talents in European football.
Hazard won’t come cheap. He has been valued at £20million by Lille, and is sure to command a massive fee with such a clamour for his services from the top clubs.
Liverpool believe they may have an edge in their attempts to sign the midfielder though, as they have already illustrated they can give first team opportunities to young players.
They will offer the 20-year-old a fast-track into the first team and, even though the Anfield side will not be in the Champions League next season, that could persuade the player to ignore the more obvious claims of other clubs.
Hazard said this week he is ready to move to a “big club” in the summer, but in the past has insisted he is not motivated merely by money and will instead make the move based on a clearly defined career path.

Eden Hazard is now one of the most sought after footballers in Europe and Liverpool’s well publicised search for a winger has led, according to this source, a formal approach for the Lille youngster. Kenny Dalglish and director of football Damien Comolli have drawn up a short list of players they wish to pursue this summer and it appears that Belgian international, regularly likened to Cristiano Ronaldo, is high up on the club’s wish-list.
The 20 year old has been in fine form this season helping his side to withing touching distance of their first domestic title in over 50 years. Hazard has netted 12 goals and laid on nine assists and has stated his interest in a move to the Premier League though for some time it was thought a move to Arsenal was on the cards and Arsene Wenger appears to still be very keen on the talented attacker.
Currently Liverpool have to opt for less natural wide options in the likes of Dirk Kuyt, Maxi and the less successful Joe Cole and Milan Jovanovic but Dalglish is apparently keen to bring in out and out wingers who he feels can help lay on the ammunition for strikers Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll.
Hazard can also play effectively in the hole behind the strikers and is sure to be interested in a move to Liverpool even though they will not be able to offer Champions League football next term.
