Anfield boss wants Celtic Park hero following bid rejection by St James’ Park.
Liverpool will turn their sights on Celtic defender Emilio Izaguirre after having a £4million bid for Newcastle United defender Jose Enrique rejected.
Red’s manager Kenny Dalglish has had a left-back high on his list of priorities since returning to the club in January.
His offer for Enrique was turned down by Toon Army boss Alan Pardew as it falls short of their valuation for the player, who they believe is worth closer to £15million.
But Dalglish will not pay that much for a player who has only one-year left on his contract and now has his sights set firmly on Izaguirre.
The 25-year-old has been in scintillating form this season and was voted player of the year in Scotland.
The Honduras international is keen on a move to Anfield and has left the matter up to his representatives.
“It is flattering for any player of course, when somebody like Liverpool shows an interest in your services,” he told La Tribuna.
“I still do now know anything, I leave this in the hands of my agent and club officials.”
