City of London prepares for night of footballing brilliance. Marble Arch lit up nicely, in manner of Paris post 1998 World Cup Final success, what other landmarks could they have projected onto? Buckingham Palace perhaps? One wonders if the Queen, a keen West Ham fan, would be happy about that though.

Arsenal have kicked off their summer shake-up plans with an £8million bid for Blackburn defender Chris Samba.
Boss Arsene Wenger has put a dominant centre half at the top of his shopping list after another disappointing season without a trophy.
Samba, 27, revealed this month that he came close to leaving Ewood Park in the January transfer window.
‘Everybody knows that I am an ambitious player. I think a move to Arsenal was very close in January but that is life.’

It seems most Arsenal supporters would welcome the signing of Blackburn Rovers defender Christopher Samba as they believe the club lacks a real leader at the back, a player with steel and determination. The Ewood Park star was apparently very close to sealing a move to North London in January but his club stepped in to prevent a deal from taking place.
Samba has been a crucial part of the Blackburn back line that helped keep Steve Kean’s side clear of the drop zone but now the season is done and dusted the pressure on Rovers to sell will peak as comments from the French born Congo international appear to suggest he very much wants a move to the Gunners.
Wenger is desperate to beef up his central defence after seeing summer signings Laurent Koscielny and Sebastien Squillaci struggle to adapt to life in the Premier League. The Arsenal boss has also been strongly linked with moves for Gary Cahill and Phil Jagielka but a move for Samba would be significantly cheaper than deals for the Bolton and Everton stars.
