Stamford Bridge stalwart wants starlet to return from Reebok Stadium loan.
Chelsea defender Ashley Cole hopes Daniel Sturridge will return from his successful loan spell at Bolton Wanderers.
The full-back has been impressed by the striker’s form at the Reebok and remembers the tough time the 21-year-old gave the veteran during training at Cobham.
Sturridge hit eight goals in 12 appearances for Owen Coyle’s side but has now returned to Chelsea hoping to play a major part for the Blues next season.
Much will depend on who will replace Carlo Ancelotti as manager but Cole is clear about where the youngster’s future should lie.
“I saw Daniel Sturridge recently and look at what he has done at Bolton,” Cole told the club’s website.
“I knew what he could do. I’ve seen him in training and he’s honestly one of the hardest players I’ve ever had to mark. His movement is unreal.
“Hopefully when he comes back next season he’ll see more opportunities and bang goals in for us like he has done for Bolton.”
