Ewood Park star’s dream move to Old Trafford could be in jeopardy.
Blackburn Rovers defender Phil Jones may have failed his Manchester United medical putting his proposed £16million move to Old Trafford in doubt.
The 19-year-old was at United’s training ground, Carrington, yesterday undergoing tests that were believed to be a routine procedure ahead of the switch.
But the England U21 international, who missed three months of last season with a knee injury, failed the stringent health check according to BBC Radio Lancashire.
United appeared to have won the race to sign Jones, beating the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, and agreed a £16million fee with their North-West neighbours.
The deal was expected to be announced today but the delay has caused rumours of a problem to emerge.
Jones is currently in Denmark with the rest of the England U21 squad preparing for the Euro U21 Championships.
His national coach Stuart Pearce has reported no injury concern over the centre-back and said Jones is completely focused on helping the Three Lions win the tournament.
At present there has been no confirmation or denial from either club.
