Arsene Wenger keen on bringing Saint Etienne man to the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal are considering a bid for Saint Etienne youngster Emmanuel Riviere as the Gunners look to boost their attacking options. Arsene Wenger has been linked with a move for the French Under 21 international in the past and is now reportedly ready to make an offer for the powerfully built striker who has been likened to Thierry Henry.
Wenger may decide that a move for Riviere may be wiser than pursuing Lille striker Gervinho who has been strongly linked with a move the Emirates Stadium. The Ivory Coast international appears keen to leave the Ligue 1 champions but moves to sign the prolific striker have so far failed to materialize due to apparent differences in the club’s evaluations of the 24 year old.
Riviere has been a regular in the Saint Etienne first team for the past two seasons and has become one of the most sought after hot prospects in Ligue 1 and his ability to also play out on the wing may make him an even more valuable commodity.
Whilst some Arsenal supporters would be hoping that the North London club pursued established talents who are household names recent speculation about moves to sign Alex Oxade-Chamberlain and Connor Wickham would appear to suggest that Wenger is still looking to pick up young talent which he can then mould into the finished article.
£10m rated Riviere could be seen as an attacking force for the future and Wenger may well be looking to offload the likes of Nicklas Bendtner and Carlos Vela both of whom have failed to make a consistent impact at the club.
