Arsene Wenger keen to strengthen Emirates Stadium defence.
Skysports.com understands Arsenal are ready to rival Liverpool for Birmingham defender Scott Dann.
Dann is thought to be on both club’s wanted list after they lost out to Manchester United for Blackburn’s Phil Jones.
Arsenal chief Arsene Wenger has made a new central defender one of his top priorities as he looks to shore up his rearguard after they looked suspect at the back last season.

As well as this reported interest in Birmingham City centre back Scott Dann, Arsene Wenger continues to pursue Blackburn Rovers defender Christopher Samba. The Gunners boss is looking to reshape a defence that looked hap hazard last term.
New signings Laurent Koscielny and Sebastien Squillaci both failed to adapt to life in the Premier League and with Thomas Vermaelen out of action for the majority of the season Arsenal struggled to keep things tight at the back. Last term the club conceded 43 Premier League goals, more than any other season bar one since 1995.
Scott Dann may be more inclined to leave Birmingham City now that Alex McLeish has left the club and with defensive partner Roger Johnson and keeper Ben Foster also linked with a St Andrews’ exit the Midlands side may struggle to keep their star players at the club.
Christopher Samba is a long term Arsenal target and a player that Wenger may be looking to steady the defensive ship. The North London club has previously failed to successfully capture targets Gary Cahill, Phil Jagielka and Phil Jones.
