Brittania Stadium star will not be joining White Hart Lane club.
Stoke City captain Ryan Shawcross will not be leaving the club this summer according to chairman Peter Coates, scuppering any chance of a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 23-year-old has three years left on his current contract and led his team to the FA Cup final, before losing 1-0 to Manchester City.
The defender was also called up this season into Fabio Capello’s England squad for the friendly with Egypt but did not take the field to earn a cap, although his chairman thinks that will soon change.
Coates insists Stoke are not a selling club and wants to build on this season’s impressive performances and take Europe by storm next year.
“We see Ryan’s future at Stoke City,” he said. “He is a very good young player and I expect him to be at Stoke next season.
“I think with Ryan and Robert Huth we have two of the best centre-backs in the Premier League, and we don’t want to change that.
“I thought Ryan did very well last year and got better as the season went on.
“All young players have dips in form, but centre-back is a position where you are going to get better as you gain more experience. He is already doing fantastically.”
